JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Librarian to lead our K – 5th Grade Programming and Services. Are you an experienced and motivated public service leader with a heart for people and who takes ownership of your work? If so, then we want you to join our team. This position oversees and sets the vision for K – 5th Grade programming and services for the library system and coordinates literacy programming across Siouxland Libraries branches. This position also uses hospitality to perform in-depth library service involving extensive public contact, while leading a team at the Downtown Library. If you possess effective leadership skills and have the passion for coaching and developing a team through goal setting, regular feedback, and fostering positive working relationships, you may be a good fit. Siouxland Libraries will be seeking candidates with the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Future-oriented, can articulate vision of possibilities and likelihood of their success. Has broad knowledge and perspective.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of library experience and demonstrated areas of progressive responsibility; or any such combination of education, experience, or training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in library science is desirable.

Must be willing to work evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays as required.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is desired.

  • The City participates in the South Dakota Retirement System. Employees receive a 6% match. Additionally, employees may choose to enroll in a Deferred Compensation Plan.
