WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll be the leader of the Club’s licensed programs — the person who makes sure everything runs well, staff are supported, families feel seen, and kids are thriving. Here’s a look at what that means day to day:

?? Lead & Inspire Your Team

Recruit, hire, train, and coach program staff. Run staff meetings, provide real-time feedback, and support professional growth.

??? Run Great Programs

Oversee daily operations of licensed Club programs. Plan special events each semester that align with BGCA priority outcomes.

?? Stay Compliant & Organized

Maintain full compliance with South Dakota Child Care Licensing, BGCA standards, and BGCNP policies. Coordinate inspections and keep documentation accurate.

?? Connect with Families

Be the primary point of contact for families. Build trust through clear, consistent communication and support kids’ social-emotional growth.

?? Manage Budgets & Grants

Oversee program budgets with responsible purchasing. Implement and track grant-funded programs and ensure all reporting requirements are met.

? Keep It Safe & Clean

Maintain a clean, attractive, and safe environment for kids, staff, and families every single day.

HOURS OF OPERATION

Monday – Friday, year-round:

  • Summer: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM

  • School Year: 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM and after school until 6:00 PM

Occasional evenings or weekends may be needed for special events, trainings, or family engagement activities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

To meet South Dakota Child Care Licensing qualifications as a Program Administrator, you must meet at least one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Human Development

  • Two-year degree in Early Childhood Education

  • Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or similar recognized credential

  • Certification in a specific child-learning philosophy (e.g., Montessori) plus at least one year of experience in a licensed childcare setting

  • Child Development Technician diploma

  • Four years of verifiable experience in a licensed childcare center or school-age childcare program

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, and parents to ensure safety of the space and others, provide guidance and reflection per the Club priority outcomes and goals.

  • Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time throughout a shift.

  • Ability to operate various types of general office equipment including PC, telephone, copier, etc.

  • This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.

You’ll also bring:

  • Experience working with youth ages birth through 5th grade

  • Management and supervisory experience — you know how to lead a team

  • Understanding of behavior management and youth development best practices

  • Strong communication skills with families, staff, and community partners

  • Experience with state childcare licensing is a big plus
