Job Description
1. Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Activity Director, the assistant position helps develop, coordinates, and maintain large and small group activity programs, as well as one-to-one visits, designed to provide mental, physical and social stimulation to residents, based individual care plans. Assistants assist in the daily function of the Tuff Memorial Home as well as other duties that promote the mental, emotional, physical and social interests of the residents. Assures compliance with federal and state regulations and established policies upon identified needs, interests, capabilities, and previous lifestyles and consistent with and procedures. Under direction of the supervisor, utilizes staff, family, volunteers, and community resources when implementing activity schedule with the residents.

- Must have speaking and writing skills in English
3. Compliance:
The employee will comply with the Compliance Policy, all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to this position. The employee has a duty to report any suspected violations of the law or the standards of conduct to the Administrator.

The primary functions and responsibilities of this position are as follows: Additional duties may be added as necessary to meet the needs of the facility. You will be evaluated on your ability to perform these functions competently with minimal supervision and/or reminders.
5. Job Functions:
- Assist with the planning, organizing and carrying out of the scheduled group activities
- Engage residents in one-to-one activities\visits that are meaningful to those residents as determined in their care plan
- Assist with facility outings and maintaining a homelike appearance
- Be available and flexible with scheduled evening and weekend functions as necessary
- Take part in in-service education programs and attend all in-service sessions relating to Activity Program.
- Identify facility and community resources that can contribute to the activities program; assist with monthly calendar of articles and assembly.
- Observe infection control procedures related to the Activity Program, including identification of residents not appropriate to attend out-of-the-room activity programs for health reasons.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Activity Director
General Job Responsibilities
- Observe and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations to ensure that personal health information is protected during its collection, use, disclosure, storage and destruction within the facility.
- Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.
- Observe safety hazards and emergency situations, and report to appropriate persons or take corrective action according to established procedures; works safely without danger to self or others.
- Maintain confidential information about residents, employees and other facility business.
- Assume accountability for using, maintaining and storing facility property according to established procedures.
- Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality and comply with attendance policy
- Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present and appropriate professional appearance
- Accept assigned duties, instructions, or correction in cooperative manner, voicing concerns or disagreement in a professional manner through established chain of authority according to established procedures.
6. Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, carry, walk, reach, push, pull and move intermittently throughout work shift and must be able to twist, climb stairs, and use repetitive motion during the work day.
- Individual must be able to use fine hand coordination; ability to hear and respond to pages
- Must be able to read and write and do mathematical calculations
- Individual must be able to remain calm in emergency situations and when handling multiple tasks
