LIGHTING SALES & DESIGN CONSULTANT

The Lighting Sales & Design Consultant focuses on providing design service for both walk-in and trade customers and is a member of our sales team.

Design Service

Having a keen eye for design and appreciation for different aesthetic styles is a top requirement. This person will help bring our customers’ visions to life, coordinating lighting items with the desired style and other elements in the space for a beautiful flow. This person is knowledgeable of what products work in different spaces and the amount of light needed for its function.

Sales

We know good sales service begins with the first impression. Our consultants are warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and experts at design and project management. We look for people who love to help people – with solid customer service skills. Happily greeting our customers and assisting with product selection in the showroom and online, with follow-through to delivery. We focus on making the process easy and beautiful.

With varied activities in the day, our consultants know how to multi-task and manage their time assisting walk-in customers and completing projects by deadline.

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

  • Possesses a ‘can-do’, positive attitude toward the everyday tasks and sales goals

  • Knowledgeable of lighting products and retail environment
  • Has experience designing residential and/or commercial projects
  • Driven to meet sales goals and grow trade accounts with sales efforts
  • Manage relationships with trade customers – contractors, developers, designers, and more
  • Excellent time management skills, with ability to assist walk-in customers and complete projects meeting customer deadlines
  • Knowledgeable of, or able to learn, the Windward database program and website
  • Capable of following orders through from start to delivery, ensuring order is complete and handling issues as they arise

Job Requirements:

  • Interior design education or lighting design experience preferred
  • Sales experience preferred but not required
  • An eye for interior design and appreciation for many aesthetic styles
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be a collaborative, team player
  • Occasional travel to off-site events such as local home show and industry functions, training, and other events
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to work some Saturdays and Monday evenings
  • Design & update the sales floor layout and sales displays routinely
  • Represent the company at industry and community events

Wage & Compensation

Pay is depending on experience, starting at $18/hr. Commission is negotiated.
