About the Role

Black Tie Components is looking for an experienced, hands-on Logistics Supervisor to lead our delivery, yard, and fleet operations in Hartford, South Dakota.

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for everything that happens after production is complete, including staging, load building, load securement, yard organization, fleet coordination, and delivery to customer job sites.

This position plays a critical role in making sure trusses, wall panels, and building materials arrive on time, complete, and damage-free. The Logistics Supervisor will lead our yard and driver team while overseeing delivery scheduling, safety, DOT compliance, and fleet readiness.

Responsibilities

The Logistics Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the on-time and complete delivery of trusses, wall panels, and building materials to customer job sites, lumberyards, and dealers
  • Building daily load and route plans based on production and delivery schedules
  • Sequencing loads to support the order materials are needed at the job site
  • Supervising, scheduling, training, and holding yard and driver employees accountable
  • Assigning daily work and ensuring employees are properly qualified before operating equipment
  • Overseeing proper load securement, including banding, blocking, dunnage, corner protection, tarping, and weight distribution
  • Managing DOT and FMCSA compliance for company vehicles and drivers
  • Maintaining driver qualification files, CDL and medical card requirements, hours-of-service records, inspections, DVIRs, permits, and other required documentation
  • Coordinating maintenance and availability of trucks, trailers, forklifts, boom equipment, and yard equipment
  • Maintaining an organized and efficient yard, including staging areas and stock locations
  • Protecting materials from weather, ground contact, and handling damage
  • Coordinating daily with Production, Scheduling, Procurement, Inventory, and Sales regarding deliveries and job-site requirements
  • Verifying that loads are complete and accurate before they leave the yard
  • Documenting and resolving shortages, damaged materials, and returns
  • Enforcing yard traffic rules, PPE requirements, spotting procedures, and safe material-handling practices
  • Investigating safety incidents and near misses and helping implement corrective action
  • Identifying delivery, staffing, equipment, or capacity issues before they impact customer commitments
  • Reporting delivery performance, freight costs, damage, and fleet performance to the Plant Manager

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

  • 3+ years of experience in delivery, distribution, logistics, or transportation operations
  • At least 1 year of experience supervising or directing a crew
  • Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA motor-carrier requirements
  • Knowledge of hours-of-service requirements, driver qualification files, and vehicle inspection standards
  • Experience with proper load securement for long, heavy, or oversized freight
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • The ability to obtain a Class A CDL if one is not already held
  • Experience with scheduling, dispatching, and delivery documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced plant and yard environment
  • The ability to work outdoors year-round

Preferred Experience

Experience with the following is preferred but not required:

  • Class A CDL with a clean driving record
  • Hauling building components, lumber, or oversized materials
  • Truss, wall panel, lumberyard, or building-material delivery
  • Forklift or powered-industrial-truck training
  • Boom truck or crane-assisted offloading
  • MiTek Management or similar production and delivery scheduling software
  • South Dakota and neighboring-state oversized-load permitting

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed outdoors in the yard and loading areas and requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching throughout the workday.

The position requires working outdoors year-round in South Dakota weather, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow, as well as around noise, dust, moving equipment, and yard traffic.

The Logistics Supervisor must be able to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier items with assistance. Climbing on and off equipment and trailers is also a routine part of the position.

Personal protective equipment, including high-visibility apparel, is required, along with adherence to all yard traffic, spotting, and material-handling safety procedures.
