POSITION SUMMARY

This individual will provide administrative and sales support to the Engineered Building Supply team. This person should have exceptional administrative and interpersonal skills. This individual shall perform job functions in collaboration with the lumber yard, construction teams, ETS as well as external clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive and evaluate quotes for applicable scopes and alignment with bid documents.
  • Continually develop and maintain relationships with client and vendor base and assist in maintaining contact and relationship records of those clients and vendors.
  • Maintain the lumberyard, ensuring the yard is clear of obstructions and organized at all times.

  • Read and interpret work orders (typed, handwritten, electronic).

  • Assist with routine cleaning of equipment and work area, this may include snow removal.

  • Report any equipment and product deficiencies.

  • Assist in the creation of proposals for simple Request for Proposal offerings.
  • Assist the EBS team and coordinate with customers on submittals and purchase orders for upcoming jobs.
  • Order in special order merchandise for upcoming jobs.
  • Partner with Superintendents to ship material when needed.
  • Distribute and invoice material to jobs.
  • Review vendor invoices against purchase orders.
  • Process sales and purchasing paperwork.
  • Collaborate with vendors to continually learn more and cultivate long term relationships.
  • Work at a high level and operate under a deadline driven environment.
  • Handle required tasks in the office and on-site as part of Lumber Yard operations.

  • Assist with various projects throughout the division as assigned by leaders.

  • Assist in creating and maintaining a positive, rewarding work environment.

  • Occasionally deliver small items in a pickup truck.

  • Occasionally unload freight pallets utilizing a forklift.

  • Check outgoing orders for accuracy.

  • Pull together store items for shipment.

  • Perform all other duties assigned and those that may be necessary to achieve company and departmental goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven working experience in a lumber yard or the construction industry.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Networking ability and demonstrated ability to establish and build client relationships.
  • High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
  • Above average ability to read & interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Proficient use of computer and estimating software.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must communicate well (written, verbal, and electronically) with clients, all levels of company staff, subcontracted vendors, and design professionals.
  • Flexibility, winning spirit/attitude, tolerance for change.
  • Exceptional knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
  • True desire to complete a project with conscious care, commitment and concentration.

  • Ability to work well with diverse groups or individuals.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

2-3 years of successful experience in a lumber yard or construction industry; strong working knowledge of office procedures; ability to effectively use and maintain office equipment.

Nice to Have: Associate’s degree.
