Salary range: $60,000-$70,000/year

The Materials Compliance Engineer is responsible to certify Wurth Electronics products meet the Global requirements of our customers. Responsible to complete material surveys, material questionnaires, and material declarations, obtain test house data and schedule product for internal testing. Assist QA Engineering and Manufacturing as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be knowledgeable and share expertise of global environmental standards and requirements with globalstaff and customers.
2. Work with corporate staff for compliance of standard and custom product.
3. Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs. Ex. EU RoHS Directive, EU REACH Directive, Halogen free initiative.
4. Develop or present environmental compliance training or orientation sessions.
5. Obtain information from Supply Chain or suppliers on chemical composition of components.
6. Coordinate Conflict Minerals reporting including supplier surveys, data consolidation and statements to customers.
7. Complete customer questionnaires for non-standard materials topics. This may include directing customers and colleagues to prepared documents on the company website.

8. Interface with customers, sales, and management to identify completion date of needed information.
9. Assist lab with organizing and maintaining local chemical storage and hazardous material handling.
10. May act in Component Engineering function for chemicals. Tasks include sample tracking of chemicals, write and maintain        chemical documents including the summary page, SDS and technical datasheet, chemical part number documentation      control, hazard and disposal evaluation, interface with local chemical suppliers, test & evaluation of new and existing chemicals.
11. Work with Component Engineers to approve design changes, to improve component drawing thoroughness and accuracy and to avoid material compliance risks.
12. Support manufacturing, quality, design engineering by participating in failure analysis and resolution as needed.
13. Coordinate outside testing of banned and controlled substances including RoHS, REACH, (Registration evaluation Authorization Chemicals), JIG-101 (Joint Industry Guide).
14. Provide lab reports from 3rd parties as needed according to customer requirements.
15. Maintain, write, and revise environmental compliance documentation and procedures.
16. Submit full material declarations and regulatory compliance certificates for products using a variety of sources (i.e. Bomcheck, IPC, McDasy, custom format).
17. Work with Design Engineers on finished good product releases to create full material declarations and identify compliance issues.
18. Monitor finished good product release for regulatory status and related reporting to internal systems and for changes to FMD library.
19. Maintain FMD currency and maintain an accurate document inventory, revision labeling and file storage systems during product change process.
20. Maintain a component database for quick, reliable and traceable Full Material Declaration (FMD) creation and control.
21. Inform company employees or other interested parties of environmental issues, that may result in a project for component and or finished good action.
22. Assist in budget implementation, forecasts, or administration.
23. Work with Global Compliance team and Marketing to create and maintain compliance documents and other company statement regarding materials and sourcing.
24. May establish and maintain a component database for quick, reliable and traceable Full Material Declaration (FMD) creation and control.
25. May establish and maintain a FMD format and revision control mechanism that works alongside existing procedures (ECO, CCO, PCN, etc). Customer permission and access must be a consideration for non-catalog parts.
