This person is responsible for performing general and advanced maintenance and upkeep of the facility’s grounds, buildings, and equipment, ensuring the built environment is safe, functional, and compliant with safety regulations and organizational standards. This person will assist the Facilities Manager in the development and execution of day-to-day work plans and facility projects, providing guidance and support to junior technicians and ensuring efficient and effective operations. 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, and implement the monitoring and maintenance of the built environment, including repair of buildings, grounds, furniture, fixtures and other duties as assigned.  Work with other facility management staff, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure continuity of facility operations.

  • Implement comprehensive maintenance strategies for buildings and contents, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.  Apply troubleshooting, problem-solving and diagnostic skills to identify and resolve complex maintenance issues.

  • Oversee and execute the maintenance of grounds including snow removal, mowing, trimming, spraying, and landscaping. Oversee and evaluate the performance of outside contractors to ensure quality service delivery.

  • Conduct thorough evaluations and make informed recommendations for tasks or projects requiring outside contractors, including obtaining bids/cost estimates, managing contractor performance, and maintaining vendor relationships.

  • Optimize and manage inventory by maintaining an orderly arrangement of supplies in storage facilities. Implement and oversee inventory control systems to ensure availability and efficient use of necessary supplies.

  • Ensure proactive and preventive maintenance of the organization's equipment, including vehicles, mowing and snow removal equipment, maintenance vehicles, and trailers. Execute preventive maintenance schedules and protocols.

  • Utilize continuous improvement and technology to enhance maintenance processes, track work orders, manage assets, and improve operational efficiency. Grow experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean tools and methodologies to make applicable changes that will help the department and staff.

  • Use strong verbal and written communication skills to report to a diverse group of stakeholders, including customers, managers, vendors, and inspectors, on the status of maintenance tasks or facility projects. Document issues and solutions comprehensively and provide strategic feedback to improve processes and procedures, ensuring continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Act in accordance with FBT policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.

  • Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required compliance training.

Job Requirements
Qualifications: This person should have a high school diploma or the equivalent, plus a minimum of five years of related experience. A proficient knowledge of carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and facility management is required. A valid driver’s license is required. This person must possess general physical fitness to perform maintenance tasks, including the ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed. This person may work independently and makes day-to-day decisions without close supervision.
