Summary of Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work at St. Joseph’s Indian School. This is a nonexempt position.

Accountability

Reports to the Lead Electrician/Plumbing Supervisor

Responsibilities

  1. Assists with the repairs of small appliances, maintenance, and installation of various mechanical and electrical systems and equipment, such as, but not limited to, motors, switches, and light fixtures.

  1. Repairs/replaces outlets, switches and electrical malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned-out elements and fuses, replacing air filters, and oiling and replacing couplers on assigned equipment.

  1. Uses electrical testing equipment including multi-meters and other associated devices.
  2. Records water samples at geothermal plant of well water and sends to testing lavatory for DENR reports

  1. Assists with maintenance of geothermal plant and air-conditioning throughout campus, cleans ac coils and assists the HVAC tech as needed.
  2. Builds and Installs ventilation ducting.

  1. In emergency situations or as directed by Lead Electrician/Plumbing Supervisor, will assist with plumbing issues.

  1. Complies with all safety and health requirements whether established by management or federal, state, or local laws.

  1. Assists Electronics Tech in pulling wires and installing cameras.

  1. Performs basic electrical and mechanical work without supervision and responds to service requests on a variety of requests.

  1. Performs other responsibilities as required by the Lead Electrician/Plumbing Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Some electrical and mechanical experience necessary
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Demands

  • Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasionally exerts up to 50 lbs. of force.
  • Regularly bends, stoops, crouches, and climbs stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Must have the capability to apply oneself physically over long periods of time.
  • Uses the abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly over time without becoming fatigued.
  • Position sometimes requires working outdoors in summer and winter.

Expectations of Hours Worked

40 hours/week and on-call as needed.
