This position within the Legal Office handles key details relating to contracts and contract amendments, including system expertise and administration, proofing, routing and tracking of contracts, posting contracts to OpenSD, and correlating contract and purchase order numbers with the state accounting system. The position is also responsible for knowing and utilizing the UJS court filing system as needed, assisting divisions and the legal staff with the administrative rules process, supporting the ongoing review and improvement of policies and procedures across the Department, and providing support on special projects. The position works closely with all divisions within DHS, and has the opportunity to provide crucial support in a variety of areas.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience or knowledge of South Dakota state contracts and/or the administrative rule process is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft and Adobe computer applications;

Ability to:
  • effectively organize and prioritize multiple projects;
  • perform work in a deadline driven environment and in an accurate and timely fashion;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely to various levels of Department staff;
  • interpret rules and regulations;
  • establish and maintain working relationships with others;
  • follow established policies and procedures; and,
  • think critically about processes and ways to improve.
