POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring high-quality product output. This role will focus heavily on the implementation and sustainment of 5S principles, streamlined workflow design, and a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement methodologies across production activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Responsible for evaluating, designing and implementing new manufacturing processes, optimizing existing ones, and developing process layout to ensure flow throughout the manufacturing process through 5S.
  2. Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process plans, work instructions, and reports.
  3. Research new technologies and methods to improve manufacturing efficiencies and product qualities.
  4. Lead the development, implementation, training, and ongoing sustainment of 5S programs throughout the Motors facility.
  5. Assist Kaizen events and other CI workshops to drive specific process improvements.
  6. Utilize data analysis and statistical process control to monitor process performance, identify trends, and implement data-driven improvements.
  7. Ensure manufacturing processes and products comply with all relevant safety regulations and requirements.
  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and 5S required.
  • Proficiency in workflow analysis, process mapping, and layout optimization required.

Skills:

Language:

  • Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and the general public.
  • Able to effectively communicate with tact and diplomacy at all times to develop relationships with internal and external contacts to provide excellent customer service and conflict management.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and communicate new information that could affect project trajectories.
  • Able to communicate goals effectively to a team.

Math:

  • Basic math functions and accounting abilities with a high aptitude for accuracy.

Computer:

  • Able to perform intermediate PC functions including the use of spreadsheet tables and formulas.
  • Able to work within SolidWorks or CAD.

Abilities:

  • Able to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in non-standard situations.
  • Able to work professionally with all levels within Rosenbauer and external business leaders.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, flexible, and easily adapted to evolving and fast-paced working conditions.
  • Extremely data driven and able to resolve problems by using available data.
  • Project Management skills as part of cross-functional development teams, both leading and participating (and understanding critical requirements and difference of both).
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
