What you will do:

The Market Data Analyst plans and oversees the Division of Insurance's market analytics program with a strong emphasis on data-driven regulatory oversight. This role analyzes insurer practices related to claims handling, underwriting, marketing, sales, producer conduct, and consumer complaint resolution utilizing a wide variety of comprehensive data. The individual supports market conduct investigations and examinations, evaluates insurer practices, and leverages advanced data analysis to identify trends, risks, and emerging compliance issues. The position develops and refines analytical frameworks, improves data quality, reporting processes, and integrates technology to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of regulatory oversight. The candidate will work with management to build reporting models, apply statistical inference, causal analysis, and geographical analysis. Collaboration will take place with internal and external stakeholders including NAIC work groups and multi-state exam teams.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, data science, finance, or related field.
  • demonstrated experience using data analytics, statistical tools, or business intelligence platforms.
  • strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills; ability to translate data into meaningful reporting.

Knowledge:
  • statistical tools such as Python-based analysis, R, SAS, SQL, and advanced Excel functions.
  • business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, GIS or similar tools).
  • MS Word, Excel, Adobe and other related software programs.

Ability:
  • integrate analytics into investigative scoping and prioritization, using risk indicators and quantitative analysis.
  • assess compliance with state laws; identify deficiencies and quantify impacts using data-supported reasoning.
  • prepare reports or internal memos, ensuring findings are backed by clear data evidence.
  • coordinate with internal teams, including legal, enforcement, consumer services, and IT/data specialists to advance the use of analytics across Division functions.
  • produce dashboards, performance metrics, and analytics briefs for leadership, legislative inquiries, and policy planning.
