Job Description

Designs and creates layouts and documentation for mechanical systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses Autodesk Inventor and other specialized software tools to generate detail layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensures compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Collaborates with engineers and other project members. Conducts or participates in site visits to inspect installations and troubleshoot problems. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design or related fields is desired but not required. Reports to a Manager. Works under close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possess an understanding of general aspects of the job. Requires 2 years of work experience.

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Pay:

$21.50 per hour - $25.00 per hour (Will vary depending on experience)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Utilize Autodesk Inventor to create 3D models and technical drawings.
  • Conduct design modifications and optimizations to enhance functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and quality control guidelines.
  • Generate a comprehensive bill of materials (BOM) and contribute to the creation of assembly instructions and documentation.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of designs for potential errors, interferences, or conflicts, proposing suitable solutions as necessary.
  • Maintain well-organized files and documentation for easy retrieval and reference purposes.
  • Stay up to date with the latest CAD techniques, software updates, and industry trends to continually enhance skills and knowledge.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is a plus but not required.
  • Proven experience as a 3D CAD Operator, preferably working with Autodesk Inventor software.
  • Proficiency in creating 3D models, technical drawings, and assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for CAD modeling and drafting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate ideas and solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing project requirements.
  • Experience with other CAD software or design tools will be considered a plus.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Sioux Falls, SD
