POSITION SUMMARY
The Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF) Mechanical designer will utilize Creo Parametric software to aid in the design, development, and sustainment of ARFF vehicles. They will closely coordinate with the ARFF sales team, production leadership, European division engineers, and local vendors, to ensure vehicles are built to meet customer and industry requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Design and detail customer driven components and options using Creo Parametric.
- Utilize Windchill PDM software to manage engineering documentation.
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues, recommend changes, and implement approved changes.
- Assist purchasing in vendor sourcing and RFQ submission process.
- Assist production in the installation and testing of prototype or revised components.
- Write or refine work instructions, BOM updates, and assembly documentation.
- Work with vendors to ensure products meet specifications.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
| Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience: - Associate degree in mechanical design or drafting required.
- CAD system experience required.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field preferred
- 3D modeling experience using Creo Parametric required.
- Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and manufacturing processes required.
- 3+ years of experience in CAD design, including sheet metal part design, sub-assemblies, and assemblies preferred.
- Knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic systems for heavy vehicles, or low voltage automotive electrical preferred.
- Understanding the custom manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of firefighting processes and equipment preferred.

Math: - Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer: - Proficient in Microsoft Excel, especially related to formulas and equations.
- Able to perform intermediate PC functions in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, Creo and AutoCAD.
