Job Description

CNA/Med Tech Summary:

Aurora Plains Academy is an intensive residential treatment facility located in Plankinton, South Dakota. Aurora Plains Academy was established in January 2007. Treatment areas for the residents at the Academy may include mental illness, emotional problems, conduct problems, learning problems, chemical abuse problems, sexual abuse/offender issues, and peer and family problems.

We are seeking sharp, principled, passionate, motivated team players to assist our residents in meeting their treatment goals. We are looking to hire Shift Supervisors as well

CNA/Med Tech Pay Range:

• $19 hourly (Weekends $21 hourly)
• $2,000.00 sign-on bonus for full-time employees $500 on your first check and $1500 after six months of successful employment
• A tuition reimbursement program of up to $2250 per semester is paid directly to the student for working a minimum of 24 hours a week.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Provide hands-on care and perform routine tasks under the supervision of nursing and Clinical Director.
2. Administer resident medications as instructed by the Registered Nurse on duty or Registered Nurse Supervisor.
3. Use approved methods to ensure resident medications are administered correctly.
4. Record and report any medication errors as required by the State of South Dakota.
5. May be responsible for taking resident vitals; taking temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
6. Assist during emergency medical situations.
7. Provide basic care in non-emergency situations; dressing and changing dressing on wounds, application of antibiotics or other medication, etc.
8. Perform clerical duties as assigned; including, but not limited to:
9. Filing,
10. Record monthly vital signs, weight and heights
11. Record keeping,
12. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly tasks as assigned.
13. Assist in setting up medical equipment, storing and moving supplies, and assisting with some procedures.
14. Accompany residents to and from therapy and treatment, as assigned.
15. Observation of resident physical, mental, behavioral and emotional conditions; report any changes to nursing staff and/or clinical team.
16. Successful completion of approved Intervention Program; certification in program is required.
17. Maintain first aid supplies, refill first aid kits and fulfill nursing supply requests

CNA/Med Tech Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of Certified Nursing Aid program, placed on the State registry of Nurse Aides or equivalent education and experience.
3. Med Tech certification or experience in med administration.
4. 21 years of age.
5. Ability to be tactful, patient, understanding, emotionally stable, and dependable.
6. High desire to help people.
7. Work as a part of a team that includes Registered Nurses, Therapists, Psychologists, Medical Doctor, Physician Aide, and State Representatives.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
9. Willing to perform repetitive, routine tasks.
10. May not have on record a substantiated report of child abuse or neglect.
