The Office of Attorney General seeks a highly motivated and dedicated Investigator to join our Medicaid Fraud, Abuse, and Neglect Services (FANS) Division. In this impactful role, you will play a vital part in safeguarding taxpayer dollars by investigating and prosecuting healthcare provider fraud that undermines our healthcare system. This critical work spans a wide range of settings-including nursing homes, hospitals, and pharmacies-where fraud can deprive patients of quality care and waste public resources.
MFANS also protects the most vulnerable by investigating and prosecuting abuse, neglect, and exploitation in healthcare environments. As an MFANS Investigator, you will conduct investigations into Medicaid provider fraud cases, drug diversion within the healthcare industry, and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation-work that directly improves patient safety and upholds the integrity of our healthcare system.

Licenses and Certifications:- State of South Dakota law enforcement certification, or ability to become a South Dakota certified law enforcement officer.
Applicants must be able to meet all minimum standards for law enforcement employment and certification at the time of appointment. Applicants who are not law enforcement certified must complete a thirteen-week basic law enforcement certification course.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Be a certified law enforcement officer in the State of South Dakota.
- Three years of criminal or fraud investigative experience.
- Special consideration will be given to applicants with a background in healthcare, law enforcement, accounting, or auditing.
