Summary:
The South Dakota Human Services Center is posting an opening in their Laboratory Department. The position is for 40 hours per week (dayshift, weekends) and includes taking call approximately one out of every 5 weeks. We want a highly motivated leader to serve as the Medical Laboratory Supervisor overseeing a small lab team. Licenses and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field is preferred.
Must be qualified to perform moderate complexity testing under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.
Other information:
Must be or eligible to be a registered Medical Technologist.
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
- develop and review policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure compliance with state requirements;
- participate with campus Administrative Leadership Team and other teams as assigned;
- manage the operating budget and maintain fiscal control of the Laboratory Department;
- hire, supervise and evaluate staff for the Laboratory Department;
- coordinate with hospital medical staff to ensure quality service delivery to patients/residents;
- collect blood samples from clients in all treatment areas;
- perform general maintenance on laboratory analyzers and general laboratory equipment;
- run quality control samples on test systems per policy and ensure proper functioning of analyzers;
- process and package patient samples for sending out to reference laboratory testing;
- perform CLIA Waived and ClIA Moderately complexity laboratory testing in the areas of hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis;
- complete and report off on Laboratory QA;
- review and write policy;
- complete 6 week schedule staffing, including on-call hours.

Knowledge of:
- principles, practices and current development in medical technology;
- safe laboratory procedures;
- the principles, practices, equipment and procedure of medical technology including physiology, hematology, phlebotomy, immunology and analytical chemistry.

- effectively organize and plan work to meet work objectives;
- establish and maintain good working relationships with patients;
- exercise good judgment in appraising situations and in making decisions;
- present data with clarity and accuracy;
- understand and interpret complete oral and written directions, formulas and charts;
