The Office of Lifespan Health is seeking a public health professional to serve as the Mortality Review Manager. This role oversees the coordination of two death review committees and supervises a team of abstractors responsible for data collection and reporting. The position works closely with the Office of Lifespan Health Assistant Administrator of Data and other team members to ensure high-quality work and compliance with state and federal requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Committee Management: Connecting and synthesizing fatality review meetings (both Maternal Mortality Review Committee and Infant & Child Review Committee). Maintain a diverse and multidisciplinary committee.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor abstractors, ensuring accurate and timely data abstraction and reporting.
- Budget & Program Management: Assist with budget development and monitoring; contribute to grant applications and reporting requirements. Ensure comprehensive case identification, abstraction, committee coordination, informant interviews, and timely data entry into MMRIA for all pregnancy-associated deaths.
- Representation: Serve as a liaison with federal partners, representing South Dakota's prevention efforts.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in public health or healthcare data systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the federal funding agency and represent South Dakota on federal calls and meetings.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health, biological sciences, or a health-related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Work experience that includes program management, preferably within a public health or healthcare-related setting. The ability to work both independently and as a collaborative, supportive member of a team. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan, set goals, and manage competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with partners, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams. Experience facilitating workgroups, committees, or similar collaborative efforts. Strong communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and support informed, data-driven decision-making.
