The Siouxland Heritage Museums invite applications for Museum Interpreter to perform a variety of functions related to providing service and assistance to patrons and Museum support staff. Responsibilities of the Museum Interpreter include receiving the public and providing information about museum exhibits and programs, directing telephone, mail, and personal communication and inquiries to appropriate staff, and performing a variety of clerical tasks.
The Siouxland Heritage Museums is a joint county-city museum system which includes the Old Courthouse Museum, Pettigrew Museum and the Irene Hall Museum Resource Center. The organization is committed to the ideal that museums are learning institutions which collect, preserve, interpret and exhibit collections of regional significance.
Salary: $20.38 - $22.51 Hour

How You Will Make an Impact
Start the experience: Greet visitors and share engaging information about exhibits and programs.
Effective Communication: Direct telephone, mail, and personal inquiries to appropriate staff members to ensure prompt assistance.
Security Functions: Perform a variety of security functions, including monitoring galleries and halls, opening and locking the building, setting alarms, observing cameras, and relaying messages and alerts.
Stay organized: Manage everyday office tasks like filing, copying, and updating calendars.
Bring experiences to life: Assist with tours, public programs, events, and the museum store.
Dig into history: Support exhibit research and help create materials for displays and guides.
What You Need to Succeed in this Role
- High school diploma or GED and one year of general office or public contact work. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Possession of valid driver's license and must maintain a safe driving record with Minnehaha County.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment background process.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and modern office procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate, efficient typing and basic math skills
- Professional, organized, and detail-oriented
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
