What We’re Looking For We seek an enthusiastic, musically talented educator who embodies our mission and brings the following:
- Faith Integration & Ministry: Weave Catholic teachings and values into music instruction; provide music ministry for school Masses, directing the liturgical choir with rehearsals and performances.
- Spiritual Leadership: Lead prayer, faith, and reflection activities; demonstrate enthusiastic support for our mission, a love for children, and a desire to inspire wonder through music.
- Music Instruction Excellence: Plan and deliver engaging vocal and band lessons aligned with state standards and our Catholic Liberal Education curriculum; conduct rehearsals, direct high-quality performances (e.g., Christmas and Spring Concerts), and offer opportunities for contests and events.
- Classroom Excellence: Create a positive, supportive environment that fosters student engagement, respect, discipline, and community in music classes.
- Instructional Skill: Deliver differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs, talents, and interests while maintaining high musical and academic standards; utilize varied resources, instruments, and technology.
- Assessment & Growth: Regularly assess progress, provide constructive feedback, maintain accurate records, and adapt instruction for growth.
- Classroom Management: Set clear behavioral expectations and implement effective strategies for a productive, safe learning space.
- Family Partnership: Maintain open, regular communication with parents through updates, conferences, and channels; build trusting relationships to support student success.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, administrators, our pastor, and support staff; participate in faculty meetings, school events, fundraisers, and initiatives.
- Growth Mindset: Engage in professional development and personal spiritual growth, including diocesan workshops and trainings.
- Joyful Commitment: Bring high energy, self-motivation, flexibility, and a genuine love for young children and music.
- Faithful Witness: Live as an outstanding example of the Catholic faith, aligning your professional and personal life with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as expressed in the Catechism and related documents.
Qualifications
- Active, practicing Catholic in good standing .
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in K-6 music education (or related field with music focus).
- Valid South Dakota teaching certification with K-6 music authorization (or ability to obtain).
- Piano/instrument proficiency and understanding of Catholic liturgy preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills; tech integration proficiency.
