Job Description

Summary/Objective: The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician is responsible for conducting various non-destructive testing methods to assess the integrity and properties of materials, components, or systems without causing any damage. This role is critical in ensuring that products meet industry standards and safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform non-destructive tests on materials, parts, or products to detect defects to ensure quality and safety of products.
  • Required to use specialized inspection methods for magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT).
  • Interpret and evaluate test results according to applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Record test results and create detailed inspection reports, documenting any defects or anomalies found.
  • Set up and calibrate testing equipment according to specific standards and procedures.
  • Ensure all testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated regularly.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot NDT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities
  • Work closely with engineers, quality control personnel, and other team members to ensure that testing results are communicated effectively.
  • Provide recommendations based on test findings to improve product quality and safety.
  • Develop techniques sheets in the Magnetic Particle and Fluorescent Penetrant Methods from the approved procedures. Technique sheets shall require final approval by a Level 3.
  • Participate in the annual internal audits for the Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Inspection and Penetrant Processes.
  • Conduct annual Performance review for other internal certified NDT personnel for the Magnetic Particle Inspection and Penetrant Inspection Process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Specifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, associate/bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
  • Must have a practical understanding and proficiency in engineering, drawing, interpretation.
  • Must be able to accurately and efficiently generate instructions, reports, etc.
  • Meet eye /visual requirements of 20/25 at 16” or Jaeger No1 at not less than 12” in at least one eye and shall be capable to of adequately distinguishing and differentiating colors used in the process involved.
  • NAS410 (Certification & Qualification of Nondestructive Personnel) requirements which include training, experience and examinations prior to being certified to acquired NDT Level
  • Level 2 requirements:
    -Level 2 shall have two years of engineering or science study at an accredited school, college or university, and/or have two or more years work experience in a manufacturing environment and/or documentation of previous experience as a NDT Technician with a previous employer.

Post-offer drug screen and background checks are required
