Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Network Technician to maintain and monitor our carrier-grade telecommunications network, systems, equipment, and applications. This role is critical to ensuring platform availability, performing proactive monitoring, executing trouble isolation, implementing corrective actions, contributing to project delivery, and providing rotational on-call support within our 24/7 Network Operations Center. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other operations team members to support mission-critical architecture and strategic corporate initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize network performance monitoring systems to identify and analyze service-impacting impairments.
- Proactively detect and resolve network anomalies and performance degradations.
- Manage the provisioning/configuration queue for new services and orders.
- Identify and work with various cabling and termination standards, including copper and fiber optic technologies.
- Develop and implement custom scripts for file transfer automation, outage alerting, and general network management.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Manage the escalation process for internal and external issues, ensuring timely resolution and notifications.
- Coordinate emergency and scheduled maintenance activities with customers and vendors.
- Perform hardware diagnostics, replacement (e.g., circuit cards, processing units), repair, and preventative maintenance on network equipment.
- Execute end-to-end troubleshooting, testing, and repair on physical and logical layer services.
- Provide timely updates to customers and management regarding service restoration progress.
- Maintain detailed logs of troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Develop and maintain technical procedure manuals and update relevant policies.

Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
4- or 2-year degree from a college or tech school; or three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Terminal Emulators, Collaboration and Internet based software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Nokia Network Routing Specialist (NRS1) preferred or Cisco/Juniper equivalent
• Current driver’s license
Other Qualifications:
Willing to work rotating shifts and weekends when needed. Required to be on-call and report to work within 30 minutes.

Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BCDR):
You are expected to participate in SDN’s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program by being knowledgeable about SDN’s BCDR Program, actively participate in BCDR drills and exercises, and may be assigned various duties in response to business emergencies (and establishing/executing priorities, responses and recovery activities in the event of a disruption).
