Network Security Technician II

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Network Security is an essential element to Midco success in our evolving, digital world. The Network Security Technicians are an integral part of protecting Midco’s vast network. They will play a hands-on role in security administration, maintenance, and recommendation innovative solutions to keep our network secure.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

• Participate in the installation and ongoing maintenance of Midco security systems, and actively support various groups within Midco by helping to resolve escalated security issues and problems.
• Administration of systems by creating new policies, modifying existing policies, searching event logs, traffic logs, and reporting.
• Troubleshooting of routing and switching to identify, isolate, and resolve security issues.
• Review daily activity of virus/malware, phishing, identity theft and other risks and escalate accordingly
• Resolve security tickets and respond to emails promptly.
• Provide escalation support for other team members.
• Maintain network security by regularly monitoring all access points.
• Create documentation of existing processes and exceptions based on audit findings
• Audit security controls to ensure they are working correctly.
• Build and maintain security diagrams
• Install and run ethernet or fiber cable for new security solutions.
• Utilize training resources to develop network and security related skills.
• Provide effective “on call” support and be prepared to work other than regular business hours, as necessary.
• Follow and serve as a role model in displaying Midco’s Core Values and Leadership Success Drivers. Adhere to Midco privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.
• Maintain regular attendance and arrive at work on time as required by your position.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Associate degree in related industry or equivalent experience preferred
• Minimum 3 years security and network experience required
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
• Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
