This position serves as clinical, technology and workflow expert. This position will work to reduce nursing documentation burden by incorporating nursing clinical practice, workflows, data and staff experience. This position will identify workflow inconsistencies and identify what forms and fields are missing while completing day-to-day nursing duties. This position will use nursing perspective to efficiently and effectively test forms and updates to the electronic health record. This position will collaborate with clinical staff, quality and compliance, and leadership to optimize electronic health record (EHR) functionality and enhance documentation practices. This position will lead trainings on efficiencies and health record upgrades to healthcare professionals.
Licenses and Certifications: Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Strong clinical nursing foundation with current RN license, deep understanding of providing excellent patient care, medication administration and psychiatric nursing workflows, safety risks and treatment models. The ideal candidate will have the ability to translate clinical needs into technical requirements and train non-technical staff on technology.
Knowledge of:
- nursing standards of practice and how we can best format our electronic health record to support the nursing staff for efficient, accurate and complete documentation.
- effective communication and teaching skills to support staff adopting technology updates.
- basic understanding of data analysis, reporting, quality improvement and training strategies.
Skill to:
- demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff in different areas of patient care at HSC who document within the health record.
- demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot system issues.
- demonstrate computer and technical skills to support users of the electronic health record and troubleshoot challenges.
Ability to:
- develop and deliver training for clinical staff on electronic health record functionality and workflow changes.
- translate clinical needs into technical requirements.
- balance multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
- build trust and rapport with all staff including medical providers who have varying comfort levels with technology.
