Job Description

Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services seeks a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant to join our growing behavioral health care team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health care, including diagnosing and treating mental health and substance use disorders, order and interpret diagnostic tests and develop comprehensive treatment plans. You will collaborate with other behavioral health professionals to ensure excellent, coordinated patient care and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Pay: Based on Education and Experience
Reports to: Director of Medical Services

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive physical exams and record medical histories.
  • Diagnose acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, including prescribing medication when necessary.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Provide patient education on disease management, prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other members of the behavioral health care team to manage patient care.
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR).
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing or graduate of an accredited PA program.
  • Current and unrestricted South Dakota Nurse Practitioner or PA license.
  • Certification or added qualification in psychiatry.
  • Minimum of [2] years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience in addiction medicine preferred.
