Regular travel is required to service sites within the designated region and for meetings, training, and partnership building.

The Division of Family and Community Health, Office of Family Nutrition Services (OFNS) is seeking a Nutrition Team Lead who trains, reviews, and ensures compliance with the WIC program for both professional and paraprofessional state and contract staff. The position includes coordinating and monitoring teams engaged in delivering WIC services across a large region using multiple service delivery methods (in-person, group, virtual, mobile units, texting). This position supports WIC service delivery across multiple counties, working under the direction of the Dietitian Manager and in close collaboration with other Nutrition Team Leads statewide. This position provides specialized expertise, strategic guidance, policy input, and support to ensure effective implementation of services.
Responsibilities of the Nutrition Team Lead include but are not limited to:
- assist with planning and promotion of WIC program services and lead the implementation of new initiatives;
- build strong strategic partnerships with outside agencies, providers, and stakeholders;
- participate in multi-faceted community health assessments and planning;
- support outreach to underserved populations and uses creative problem-solving to identify and reduce barriers to services;
- ensure the WIC Program is delivered in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, standards, and professional scope of practice;
- responsible for training and mentoring; provides guidance and coaching to motivate individuals and teams to achieve performance objectives;
- analyze and evaluate operations and make recommendations for improvements to quality, cost, efficiency, staffing, and programming;
- work closely with Vendor Liaisons and Central Office Vendor Manager to coordinate vendor activities with potential and authorized vendors.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A bachelor's degree in dietetics or a nutrition related field or 3 or more years of WIC Nutrition Experience. Experience with partnership building, collaboration, program development, quality assurance, quality improvement, and evaluation.
Knowledge of:
- WIC policy and procedure principles and practices;
- maternal, infant, and child health;
- quality improvement processes and management;
- training and education;
- data analysis and interpretation.
Skill to:
- maintain professional knowledge of evidence-based practices related to nutrition for maternal and child health;
- excellent communication skills;
- creative and visionary thinking;
- sound judgment, analysis, and discretion within the framework of defined policies, procedures, and scope of practice.
Ability to:
- develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external partners;
- set goals and priorities;
- work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
