Job Summary

The Operations Manager oversees warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and team compliance with safety and food handling procedures. This role leads staff and volunteer training, coordinates daily distributions, and supports mobile food events. The Operations Manager also partners with procurement, maintains donor relationships, and drives process improvements to ensure efficient, compliant operations.

Job Responsibilities

Staff Training & Supervision

  • Trains staff on procedures and documents deviations.
  • Creates staff and volunteer shadowing plans.
  • Oversees staff and scheduling.
  • Directs staff to perform regular procedures and trains on proper procedures.
  • Recommends SOP updates and trains staff on and is responsible for compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Ensures adherence to all policies, responsible for all SOP development and monitors their effectiveness and adjusts processes to ensure efficient operations.
  • Performs driver evaluation road test.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Manages the flow of goods throughout the warehouse, the freezer, and refrigerator.
  • Ensures that team members adhere to proper inventory procedures and trains on proper inventory handling.
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts and confirms accuracy and reports inventory logs.
  • Researches any inventory discrepancies and performs root-cause analysis, if needed.
  • Recommends process updates to avoid inventory discrepancies.

Compliance, Safety, & Maintenance

  • Assists with safety compliance and training.
  • Directs staff to perform preventative maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance plans.
  • Confirms and records compliance with AIB cleaning procedures and reports monthly to senior leaders.
  • Complete ServSafe Management training within 60 days of hire
  • Site lead for recall procedures and oversees adherence.
  • Partners with procurement for training team and staff on all food resource program procedures and compliance.

Cross Department Collaboration & Logistics

  • Collaborates with multiple departments to direct daily distributions.
  • Create optimal routes for the distribution of goods.
  • Coordinates schedule changes and informs appropriate staff members of changes.
  • Establishes efficient processes.
  • Evaluates team compliance with staging procedures and makes corrective actions as needed.

Volunteer Management & Community Engagement

  • Assists, as directed, with major food drives or volunteer activities.
  • Recommends volunteer work projects and provides volunteer supervision, as needed.
  • Trains staff on proper volunteer interactions and directs their work at major food drives.
  • Oversees volunteer tasks to ensure proper procedures are being followed.
  • Assists with mobile food distributions.
  • Maintains an excellent relationship with donors.

Physical Requirements: Heavy Work: Heavy work involves lifting approximately 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, it is also determined that they can also do sedentary, light, and medium work.

Qualifications

  • 8+ Years Relevant Experience and 2+ Years Management Experience Required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience Required.
  • Some weekend and evening work may be required.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Preventative maintenance experience.
  • Training experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean and safe driving record.
  • Forklift Certified Trainer strongly desired.
  • Class B or Class A CDL strongly desired.
