Paint and Parts Prep Technician

Job Description

Job Specific Summary:

You will be responsible for prepping the surface of the parts and getting them ready for paint by sanding, polishing, and scrapping the parts. Light fabricating work as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ability to use scrapers, grinders, and sanders to prep the parts for paint applications
  • Able to load and unload parts to and from the paint racking
  • Package and prepare the parts for shipping
  • Inspect unpainted parts for accuracy and quality
  • Inspect painted parts for cosmetic appearance defects
  • Operate Hand Tools: Grind, sand, polish, and clean edges and parts on precision welded parts.
  • Material Handling: Organize, stage, and move materials as required using overhead cranes and/or other material handling equipment.
  • Assembly: Assemble the products per specification and meet all quality requirements.
  • Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints and instructions for shipment preparation.

Location: Tea, SD (right off I-29)
Work Hours: 7:00am to 4:30pm Monday – Friday (40hrs + 5hrs overtime per week)
Education: High School Diploma
Pay: $19.00-$25.00/hour Depending on Experience

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Hand Tool Experience: Grinding, Sanding, Fabricate, Polishing
  • Forklift certification or ability to acquire the certification.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is desired.

Required Licensing/Registration/Certification:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to operate the grinding machines, and grinders.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

Working Conditions & Workwear Requirements

  • This position will be working primarily indoors where the work area is heated, but not air-conditioned.
  • You will be working around industrial equipment and the noise level is usually moderate but can be higher in some areas at times.
  • You will be required to wear safety boots in accordance with our company policy, DeGeest shirts (provided by the company), safety glasses, earplugs, and appropriate attire for the position -Leathers for welding, gloves, apron, etc.
