Part Time – Billing Specialist and Coding Technician

Job Description

The City of Sioux Falls Health Department is accepting applications for the following positions at Falls Community Health. These positions are a maximum of 28 hours per week, M-F, based on clinic needs:

  • Part Time Coding Technician

  • Part Time Billing Specialist

  • Billing Wage: $20.50
  • Coding Wage: $23.62

The Coding Technician evaluates the medical record and electronic coding to ensure documentation accurately reflects patient visit and services rendered. They ensure compliance with coding regulations. The coder can also provide technical guidance to medical providers and department staff. They review Medicaid, Medicare, hospital charges and third-party insurance claims before submission.

The billing specialist is responsible for processing insurance claims, maintaining accurate patient billing records, and supporting timely reimbursement within a fast-paced community healthcare environment. Communicates professionally with patients, insurance providers, and internal teams to resolve billing inquiries and support a positive patient experience. Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties may also include other billing office tasks as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

The qualified applicant must be detail oriented and ability to maintain confidentially and discretion.

Applicants must be able to pass the City’s background check and drug screening.
