Summary of Position

A St. Joseph’s Indian School Mission Advocate is passionate about making a difference in the Native American
community by working at the Sioux Falls Mission Advocacy (call) Center. In this role, you will professionally
handle incoming and outbound donor service calls while sharing your knowledge of the Mission of St. Joseph’s
Indian School and Native American culture. You will be part of something meaningful — connecting hearts
across phone lines and creating lasting impact while advancing the organization’s mission.
Individuals must provide exceptional donor service and ensure accuracy in all aspects of the work. As you
excel in your role and receive proper training, you can earn a hybrid remote work schedule with office
rotations.
This position is non-exempt.

Accountability

Reports to the Mission Advocate Supervisor

Core Responsibilities

Represents St. Joseph’s Indian School in a positive and professional manner at all times, treating donors with
the utmost respect – exceeding their expectations with every contact.

Responsibilities

1. Incoming Call Management:
Handle incoming calls professionally, courteously, and efficiently. Respond to inquiries, address
concerns, provide accurate information and process donations according to established procedures
while delivering a positive donor experience.
2. Outbound Donor Engagement:
Conduct outbound calls, including donor thank you, birthday greetings, follow-up and occasional
fundraising contacts. Create positive, engaging interactions that strengthen donor relationships and
encourage continued support.
3. Donor Relationship Building:
Build meaningful, respectful relationships with donors through active listening, clear communication,
and mission advocacy, increasing donor trust, satisfaction, and long-term commitment through conflict
resolution and retention efforts.
4. Promote DreamMakers Club:
Promote and explain the benefits of recurring giving opportunities to donors when appropriate and in
accordance with campaign guidelines.
5. CRM Documentation and Donor File Maintenance:

Maintain accurate donor records within the organization’s CRM system by making appropriate and
timely updates to donor files, including code updates, and contact information changes, in compliance
with organizational data standards and policies.
6. Phone System Utilization and Documentation
Utilize the phone system efficiently, including proper call dispositions and entering clear, detailed, and
accurate notes that reflect the content and outcomes of each interaction. Demonstrates performance
efficiency with appropriate stat metrics.
7. Team Collaboration and Coaching Participation
Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
Demonstrate openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Maintain acceptable quality assurance scores for donor satisfaction.
8. Cultural Awareness:
Develop and maintain a foundational understanding of Native American culture and demonstrate
cultural sensitivity and respect during donor interactions, consistent with the mission and values of
St Joseph’s Indian School.
9. Schedule Adherence and Reliability:
Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and adherence to assigned schedules and break times to
support operational efficiency and team coverage.
10. Other:
Performs other responsibilities as required by the Mission Advocate Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess strong verbal, written communication and listening skills with the ability to interact
professionally, patiently, and empathetically with donors.
• Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow internal
procedures, and effectively use a computer.
• Prior customer service experience preferred
• Be a self-motivated team member and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
• Basic typing skills with proficiency in the use of a computer and technical applications, such as
Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to use the internet.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Physical Demands

Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.

Expectations of Hours Worked

Monday through Friday:
Part-time Regular employees work under 28 hour/week
