Good News Children's Center is a ministry of Good News Church. Our mission is Providing Christ-centered care where children grow as disciples.
Every day, we intentionally weave Biblical truth into learning through prayer, Bible stories, worship, relationships, purposeful play, and everyday conversations. We believe children learn best through meaningful relationships, hands-on learning experiences, purposeful play, and a strong biblical foundation.
We're seeking an educator who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and desires to partner with families in helping children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Many of the children in our preschool program come from culturally diverse families, including families who are learning English. We are looking for someone who values every child, celebrates diversity, and creates an environment where all children feel welcomed, known, and loved.
Schedule
- Approximately 8:00/8:30 a.m. – 12:30/1:00 p.m.
- Monday–Friday during the school year
- Schedule follows the Sioux Falls School District calendar
- Additional hours may be available on no-school days, teacher workdays, and during the summer, if desired
Pay
Starting at $18.00 per hour, based on education, credentials, and early childhood experience.
What You'll Do
As a Preschool Teacher, you will:
- Weave Biblical truth naturally throughout the day, helping children discover God's love through relationships, purposeful play, learning experiences, and everyday moments.
- Create a warm, welcoming classroom where every child feels safe, loved, and valued.
- Plan and implement engaging learning experiences that support children's development through purposeful play.
- Implement curriculum aligned with the South Dakota Early Learning Guidelines.
- Foster children's social-emotional, language, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development.
- Observe children's progress and communicate regularly with families.
- Build positive partnerships with parents.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Collaborate with your teaching partner and administrative team.
- Occasionally serve as a backup van driver transporting preschool children, if qualified.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- CDA Credential, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience teaching preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare center or preschool
- Strong classroom management and positive guidance skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to integrate Christian faith naturally into everyday learning
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Physical Requirements
- Supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
- Move throughout the classroom and playground while actively engaging with children.
- Lift, carry, or assist children and classroom materials up to 40 pounds.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor activities in a variety of weather conditions.
