Summary of Position
The Payroll/HR Assistant works alongside the Payroll Associate, assisting in the collection, entering, and
processing of payroll data for St. Joseph’s Indian School and Sacred Heart Center. In addition, assist with
completion of applicant reference checks and employee performance evaluations.
This is a non-exempt, full-time position.
Accountability
Reports to the Payroll Manager
Core Responsibilities
• Assists employees in fulfilling the mission of St. Joseph’s Indian school by promoting and modeling a
culture of compassion, encouragement, and results.
• Assists the Human Resource Department in the “St. Joe’s Way” initiative.
Responsibilities
1. Assists in maintaining payroll information through the collection, entering, and processing of data.
2. May assist with keeping HRIS up-to-date.
3. Provides payroll information to authorized persons by providing time clock reports and assisting the
Payroll Associate with further questions and requests direct to the payroll department.
4. Completes reference checks on applicants as requested.
5. Assists in the process of employee performance evaluations.
6. Takes part in employee relation planning and events.
7. Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll and HR operations by keeping information
confidential.
8. Enhances professional knowledge by attending job-related training required by the supervisor.
9. Performs other responsibilities as required by position supervisor.
Qualifications
• Data entry skills preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Excel preferred
• High School Graduate or equivalent
Physical Demands
• Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.
• Driving may be required.
• Some supervision may require standing for prolonged periods.
Expectations of Hours Worked
• At least 40 hours per week
