DESCRIPTION

Participates in the development (design, build, and test) and support of pharmacy applications systems. Implement cost effective solutions. Facilitate in the development of a proposed solution to business-sponsored initiatives. The Pharmacy Applications Analyst serves as a technology liaison relating to assigned applications between the business owners, IT and vendors as necessary. This includes implementation of new software systems as well as having a working knowledge of clinical and/or operational workflows in order to better optimize current systems. The Pharmacy Applications Analyst will act as an escalation point for application issues from the Helpdesk and business owners.


Key Responsibilities



  • Main point of contact relating to assigned applications. Update Project List

  • Enlist necessary IT resources.

  • Create Test and Validation Plans.

  • Ensure that project deliverables are completed on time.

  • Aptitude for learning new software tools and products.

  • Understanding of relational databases and client-server concepts.

  • Knowledge of analytical processes and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to evaluate business user needs against current system capabilities.

  • Ability to accurately and effectively translate business requirements to high-level system specifications.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with pharmacists, technicians and various other pharmacy and administrative staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing with all levels of associates and management.

  • Understand business and operational requirements for system support and translate them into appropriate systems/application design needs.


Critical Skills



  • Strongly prefer knowledge of pharmacy systems – mail order/retail/inpatient/outpatient, prescription routing, pharmacy billing, and SQL.

  • Familiarity with the software development cycle.

  • Working knowledge of MS Windows Office Product Suite (MS-Project, MS-Visio, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Word).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare and/or financial software applications.

  • Practical experience with healthcare and/or financial software applications and ability to manipulate data with standard tools.


Education
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience in a related area may substitute degree, and at least 2 years of experience in the field. 



  • Pharmacy Technician experience a plus.

  • Call Center Business Operations and Healthcare background a plus.


Physical Demands


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
