Job Description

Dakota Dermatology is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our team. Our independent, physician-owned dermatology practice was founded in 1997 and has grown into a team of nine providers with a legacy of relationship-based care and medical excellence.

The Physician Assistant is responsible for practicing medical dermatology in a clinic setting, including performing procedures and cosmetic treatments. Key duties include:

  • Exercises autonomy in medical decision-making while being supervised and supported by a team of board-certified dermatologists.
  • Counsels and educates patients and family members about diagnoses and treatment options.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care and optimal outcomes.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participates in quality, safety, and performance improvement activities, including educational and administrative services.

Schedule:

The position has a varied schedule; typically working 3-5 days per week for 8-hour shifts M-F between 7:00am and 5:00pm and often averaging 3.7 days per week. The Physician Assistant may occasionally travel to outreach clinics and schedule flexibility is required. This position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours on a rotation.

Compensation:

  • Base salary with production-based bonus

Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program.

  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs. To maintain their national certification, PAs must log 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and sit for a recertification every six years.
  • Active South Dakota Physician Assistant license in good standing.
  • Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit and active South Dakota Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) to prescribe controlled substances in South Dakota.
  • Clinical experience in dermatology is preferred but not required
