Position Summary
Red Rock Construction is seeking a hardworking, dependable Pipelayer to join our underground utility crew. This position is responsible for installing sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main systems safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining the high standards of quality and professionalism that Red Rock Construction is known for.
The ideal candidate takes pride in producing quality work, works well as part of a team, communicates effectively, and understands that every inch matters when installing underground utilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main pipe according to plans, specifications, and grade.
- Use pipe lasers, grade rods, and surveying equipment to maintain proper line and grade.
- Prepare pipe bedding and ensure proper trench bottom conditions.
- Install PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, reinforced concrete pipe, and related utility products.
- Install fittings, valves, hydrants, manholes, catch basins, and utility structures.
- Verify proper pipe alignment, joint assembly, and elevations before backfill.
- Assist with pressure testing, leakage testing, mandrel testing, and utility inspections.
- Install service connections for water and sanitary sewer systems.
- Safely guide excavator operators during excavation and pipe placement.
- Perform trench safety inspections and ensure trench protection systems are properly used.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and staging materials and equipment.
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Construction experience preferred (utility experience strongly preferred).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to climb, kneel, squat, bend, and work in trenches throughout the day.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work overtime.
- Reliable transportation.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience installing municipal water, sanitary sewer, or storm sewer systems.
- Experience using pipe lasers and grade equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA excavation and trench safety requirements.
- Equipment operating experience is a plus.
