Job Description

Role Overview:

As the Plant Controller at Alcom LLC, the #1 aluminium trailer manufacturing company in North America, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the manufacturing plant. Your role will encompass budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to ensure the plant operates efficiently and within its financial targets. You will work closely with plant management to drive profitability and efficiency, ensuring that financial strategies align with overall business objectives.

FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Financial Planning & Reporting:
    1. Develop and manage the plant’s annual budget, forecasts, and financial plans
    2. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
    3. Provide variance analysis and recommend corrective actions to improve financial performance
  2. Cost Management:
    1. Assist in the implementation of cost accounting
    2. Once implemented, oversee cost accounting processes, including the analysis of production costs, material usage, labor, and overhead
    3. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
    4. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to plant operations
  3. Compliance & Risk Management:
    1. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, corporate policies, and internal controls
    2. Prepare for and coordinate with external auditors
    3. Identify and mitigate financial risks to the organization
  4. Inventory & Asset Management:
    1. Monitor inventory levels as well as maintain accurate records of materials and finished goods
      1. Identify and help drive working capital improvements
      2. Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capital expenditure planning and tracking
  5. Collaboration & Leadership:
    1. Partner with plant managers and department heads to provide financial guidance and strategic recommendations
    2. Serve as the primary liaison between the plant and corporate finance teams
  6. Process Optimization:
    1. Evaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency.
      1. While this role will be resident at a plant, the plant controller will participate in and possibly lead company-wide finance process improvement initiatives
      2. Leverage ERP and financial systems (e.g., Genius) for accurate data management and reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial management or accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence others at all levels of the organization.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
