Plant Mechanic Helper
Job Description
Department: Firestone Plant, 12248 Co Rd 15, Longmont, CO 80504
Reports to: Plant Manager
Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday, 9am-9pm, with frequent Saturday work.
Job Summary:
You will be assisting with general mechanical work, which includes aggregate plant maintenance, repairs, and specific projects related to general improvements. This may, at times, include general labor or operating equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The position has no direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform duties with safety top of mind.
• Perform the physical duties of the work in all types of weather conditions.
• Assist with servicing, maintenance, and repairs (welding/fabrication) on plant equipment while at times working at heights and/or confined spaces.
• Display good communication skills, including the ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and instructions.
• Safely and efficiently use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Read, understand, and follow safety rules and regulations, and procedures.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to coworkers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist coworkers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Mechanical aptitude.
• The ability to follow and enforce safe work practices.
• Self-directed and can work independently with supervision.
• High attention to detail.
• Good work attendance.
Education and Experience:
• High School diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely perform essential job functions, including sitting, standing, squat, bending, lifting, and walking for long durations.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
