Job Description

Job Summary:
The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an aggregate crushing plant, as well as its maintenance and repair. Approximately half or more of a year will be spent working at our quarry located close to Horse Creek, Wyoming, and in the winter months, at our Firestone and Fort Lupton, Colorado, locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Read, understand, and follow all company safety policies and procedures. Acts as a champion of safety.
• Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, as well as local, state, and federal regulations related to MSHA, EPA, etc.
• Safely and efficiently operate, maintain, and repair the plant.
• Visually observe and monitor gauges, and entire plant while in operations to ensure proper flow of material on screens, belts, crusher, etc.
• Maintain strong communication with other plant employees to ensure efficient and safe workflow.
• Shutdown plant as required in event of emergency, blockages, or end of shift.
• Inspect plant before and after use and complete/submit daily report.
• Perform maintenance and repair on conveyor belts and plant equipment, including splicing, replacing idlers, pulleys, drive belts, bearings, changing liners and screens, lubrication, and housekeeping. Report and seek approval from Supervisor on all required maintenance/repair work.
• Safely and efficiently use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Operate equipment in a safe, professional, and efficient manner. Fuel, grease, check and top up fluid levels and daily maintenance.
• Has torching and welding experience.
• Reports daily production volume and downtime to the supervisor.
• Required to use PPE.
• Is at the proper location and commences work on or before assigned time.
• Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
• An attitude of continuous improvement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• High attention to detail.
• Good work attendance.
• Display good communication skills including the ability to understand and follow verbal and written direction and instructions. Asks questions to clarify understanding.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Physical Requirements:
• Work 5 to 6 days per week (Monday thru Saturday).
• Ability to occasionally perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
• May occasionally be exposed to extreme weather conditions as well as exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
