Head Preschool Teacher

Career Opportunity at the Washington Pavilion in Education!

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all best practice research. The person in this position will research, develop, implement, and assess age appropriate curriculum and programs emphasizing the humanities and sciences. The incumbent must be a person who enjoys working with young children and diverse groups of people.

This is a FT, exempt (salaried) contract position. Seasonal- End of August to End of May – Pay/benefits are distributed over 12 months. Hours: Monday- Friday between 7:30am-4:00pm (40 hrs/week).   

What you will do!

Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate preschool programming using best practices for 3-5 year olds.

Submit all lesson plans to Director of Education for review and approval

Keep abreast of innovative, professional development, technological advances, and curriculum trends in accordance to state and national mandates through research and professional growth.

Develop measurable objectives for all curriculum developed.

Remain knowledgeable of budgets for preschool program.

Maintain a safe, clean, learning environment and assures the well being and safety of children in his/her care.

Maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with teacher assistant, volunteers, parents, and program specialists in planning and implementing classroom activities.

Hold two parent/teacher conferences per year as designated on the planning calendar to share each child’s progress with parents.

Maintain discipline and supervision of children during all Pavilion Preschool activities.

Represent the Washington Pavilion in a professional manner.

Submit to two performance evaluations per school year

Other job related duties as assigned.

What you will bring! 

      • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or in a field related to early childhood education with preschool teaching experience and certification is preferred
      • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Possess competent computer and desktop publishing skills
      • Exhibit impressive organizational skills and flexibility
      • Manifest enthusiastic self-motivation
      • Demonstrate the ability to develop innovative programs, curriculum, and handle multiple tasks
      • Demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise
      • Communicate effectively with a wide range of team members and audiences
      • Possess a commitment to professional growth
      • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in preschool program evaluation and teaching methodologies
