Responsibilities:

This will include but not limited to providing vocational supports to all of the clients that will be working in the Canteen. Will staff/coach/supervise the Canteen with clients when the Canteen is open. Is responsible for running the till accounting for the money that is turned into Budget and Finance. Assist with the menu and the cooking of said items. Is responsible for the ordering of products for the Canteen. Work closely with Industrial Workshop Managers to ensure that all vocational supports are provided daily

  • experience working with clients who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities;
  • the ability to obtain Serve Safe Certification;
  • the ability to work with a diverse population.

Knowledge of:
  • work processes and practices pertaining to a professional subject area;
  • effectively support clients' vocational opportunities;
  • provide exceptional customer service;
  • proper sanitation practices;
  • team collaboration.

Skill to:
  • independently implements work processes and develops procedures for assigned work within the limits set by the policies and procedures of SDDC;
  • informs, directs the work and trains clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Canteen, while educating the clients about the guidelines that are to be followed within the Canteen;
  • maintains positive working relationships with all customers and clients;
  • maintains inventories of supplies, recommends products, works with suppliers and resolves vendor problems;
  • schedules repetitive activities into daily program routines;
  • monitors processes to ensure all required steps and documentation are completed in compliance with program guidelines;
  • coordinates jobs, establishes and adjusts priorities, identifies and deals with obstacles, and re-evaluates and modifies the production process;
  • adjusts production to respond to the needs of SDDC;
  • initiates internal budget processes, compiles budget data, and monitors deadlines;
  • recording statistics,(keeping track of sales, broken down by times and days) compiling data for required reports (inventory weekly, monthly and annually), monitoring deadlines and other time factors, monitoring compliance with program guidelines, updating technical tools(cash register, various appliances that are used in the Canteen);
  • adapts equipment and work areas to meet the particular needs of SDDC;
  • determines production techniques and implements;
  • assesses client production capabilities and develops vocational programs;
  • inspects product quality and the entire production process;
  • reviews the flow of that particular job through production;
  • performs other work as assigned.


Ability to:
  • interpret and comprehend program guidelines and procedures;
  • communicate effectively;
  • gather, interpret, report, and use information concerning assigned activities;
  • assess process effectiveness and develop changes or alternatives;
  • train and provide guidance to staff and service users;
  • use computers and software;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and client.
