WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Shift 2 Production Team Lead, you’ll lead the people, processes, and daily production activities within an assigned Focus Factory. You’ll help your team succeed by setting clear expectations, removing roadblocks, developing associate skills, and keeping work moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
You’ll be a hands-on leader who understands the work, supports the team, and takes ownership of getting products Done Right, On Time.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and organize daily production activities within your assigned Focus Factory to meet quality, safety, efficiency, and delivery expectations.
- Provide associates with clear direction, priorities, coaching, and the support needed to successfully complete their work.
- Schedule and track jobs through the Focus Factory, maintaining an accurate understanding of job status, priorities, due dates, and potential delays.
- Monitor production performance, including throughput, labor efficiency, rate per hour, scrap, and other key performance measures.
- Identify production roadblocks and quickly involve Engineering, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, or other support teams when additional resources are needed.
- Develop associate skills in areas such as assembly, soldering, testing, equipment operation, and other Focus Factory processes.
- Partner with Production leadership, Training, and Human Resources to identify training needs and support ongoing associate development.
- Provide performance feedback, complete evaluations, address employee concerns, and appropriately document and escalate performance or conduct issues.
- Monitor attendance and timekeeping and ensure required information is accurate and communicated appropriately.
- Champion continuous improvement by facilitating problem-solving, Root Cause Analysis, employee ideas, team discussions, and Lean Manufacturing activities.
- Assist with production set-up, assembly, line balancing, in-process inspections, and other hands-on production activities when needed.
- Promote safe work practices, quality workmanship, accountability, teamwork, and a positive production environment.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Previous manufacturing or production experience with a strong understanding of production processes and workflow
- Leadership, team-lead, supervisory, or demonstrated informal leadership experience
- Ability to read, understand, and follow assembly instructions, prints, and production documentation
- Ability to learn and operate production equipment and processes as needed
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to set expectations, coach associates, address concerns, and hold people accountable
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use a Root Cause Analysis approach
- Ability to organize and prioritize people, jobs, and resources in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
- Initiative and the ability to recognize problems, take appropriate action, and involve additional resources when needed
- Ability to handle confidential employee and business information professionally
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn ESI’s manufacturing and business systems
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a hands-on leadership position within an electronics manufacturing environment. The Production Team Lead regularly moves throughout the assigned Focus Factory and works alongside production associates and support teams.
- Regular standing and walking throughout the production environment
- Frequent interaction with production associates, leaders, and cross-functional support teams
- Ability to perform or assist with production and assembly activities as needed
- Frequent use of computers, production equipment, tools, and manufacturing systems
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment, production materials, moderate noise, and electronics manufacturing processes
- Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ESD protection in designated areas
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with assigned production processes
ITAR COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENT
This position requires access to areas, technical data, and/or information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). In accordance with applicable federal requirements, candidates must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR, including a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by applicable law. Verification of eligibility will be required.
