The South Dakota Highway Patrol is seeking a Program Assistant I. Primary job duty include providing supplies and equipment statewide to law enforcement staff, maintaining a complex records management database, monitoring inventory to ensure fiscal responsibility, and developing and maintaining warehouse and supply techniques to ensure accessibility and security of equipment and supplies.

This position may require ability to lift 50 pounds, safely work around equipment, and work in a computer-based office setting.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
High School diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of:
  • basic computer skills;
  • supply and inventory experience;
  • knowledge of procurement process;
  • standard police equipment knowledge;
  • proper storage of hazardous materials.

Skill to:
  • maintain an accurate and thorough inventory;
  • place and review purchase orders;
  • communicate with vendors and statewide agency staff.

Ability to:
  • manage time effectively;
  • work independently;
  • exercise good judgement;
  • maintain confidential information;
  • research best practices on supply relating to fiscal responsibility.
