Job Summary:
The Project Engineer is responsible for surveying, taking measurements, recordkeeping, overseeing construction, testing materials, project design and implementation, and reporting to appropriate managers on work progression. This position functions with a high degree of independence and will use extensive knowledge and expertise to assist on projects or provide technical input to a specific situation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys and site assessments, field project layouts (survey and stake), and oversee project site preparation.
- Develop drawings and maps used for project planning and development.
- Communicate effectively with Plant Managers, Equipment Managers, and field personnel during all facets of any given project.
- Gather all information and conduct appropriate discussions with all project stakeholders.
- Monitor project schedules and coordinate resources both internally and externally.
- Assess the need to modify plans as a project progresses and provide recommendations to the Project Manager.
- Monitor project schedules and adjust associated milestones as necessary.
- Keep detailed and organized records of field measurements, surveys, testing, and project-related documents.
- Perform other duties assigned.

- General knowledge and understanding of mining project scope, designs, documentation, and specifications.

- Software technical skills: Proficient with AutoCAD, Carlson, and the Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
- Desired proficiency in operating Trimble GPS or equivalent and drone surveying hardware and software.
- High level of personal integrity and confidentiality.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mining Engineering, Construction Management, or Geology (emphasis on mining) is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of walking or standing outside in the elements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
