PURCHASE COORDINATOR – SIOUX FALLS SD

North American Truck & Trailer, a leading Midwest Kenworth dealership, with multiple locations, is seeking candidates for its Purchasing Coordinator position. We are a fast-growing company that provides excellent opportunities for our employees. Come join our team!

This position is an important part of our management team. This position has the ultimate responsibility for all our parts inventory at all our locations. Candidates for this position must have excellent communication, management, and organizational skills.

Job responsibilities

  1. Purchasing
    1. Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company goals and industry demands.
    2. Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost and delivery reliability.
    3. Negotiate pricing and terms to maximize value and ensure supply.
    4. Analyze demand trends and forecast inventory needs to support business needs.
    5. Track supplier performance, addressing issues as needed.
    6. Preseason parts orders.
    7. Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contacts and vendor communications.
    8. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the supply chain.
    9. Attend trade shows and networking events to expand market knowledge.
    10. Build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  2. Provide accurate pricing and availability information for parts, accessories and tools.
  3. Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  4. Advise customers and employees on product features, alternatives and upgrades.
  5. Ongoing sales/vendor training and development.
  6. Inventory maintenance.
    1. Perform yearly inventory at selected stores.
    2. Oversee cycle count process for all stores.
  7. Internal stores
    1. Oversee their inventories and purchasing demands.
    2. Important reports are getting reviewed and done.
  8. Work with service department to source hard to get parts.
  9. Monthly management reports.
  10. Supervise purchasing team.
  11. Travel to each store, to help them with any issues and concerns.
  12. Work with vendors to return slow moving or obsolete parts.

This position has approximately a 50% travel requirement.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Purchasing and Inventory Management.
