Quality Assurance Manager
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual quality and food safety activities. This position ensures the safety and integrity of all products by identifying and addressing potential food and food-contact surface contamination, monitoring employee practices that may place product at risk, and ensuring compliance with all quality systems.
The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in food safety documentation, procedures, and records, follows Quality SOPs when completing tasks, and demonstrates strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can identify issues, collect and analyze data, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain HACCP, Safe Quality Food (SQF), and overall food safety systems
- Maintain a strong working relationship with USDA
- Prepare for and lead second- and third-party audits
- Complete customer questionnaires and documentation requests
- Monitor and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Review, update, and maintain SOPs, HACCP plans, SQF procedures, and supporting documentation
- Conduct food safety and quality training for employees
- Collect product samples and environmental swabs
- Lead and support the QA team
Qualifications
- Required experience in quality assurance within a food production environment
- SQF and HACCP certifications strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in business or a related field strongly preferred, or equivalent experience/training
- Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally, tactfully, and diplomatically
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and respond effectively in real time
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
