Job Title: Receptionist
SUMMARY
Position receives callers at establishment, determines nature of business, and directs callers to destination
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Obtains caller’s name and arranges for appointment with person called upon
- Directs caller to destination and records name, time of call, nature of business, and person called upon
- Operates telephone console to receive incoming messages
- Types memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents
- Makes future appointments and answer inquires
- Preforms variety of clerical duties
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Knowledge of modern secretarial practices, procedures, and equipment
- Knowledge and skill of taking and transcribing oral dictation
- Knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation
- Ability to understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions
- Ability to compose routine letters and memoranda
- Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with established precedents and regulations, and to apply these to work problems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and other employees and the public
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduate from high school, including or supplemented by courses in secretarial science; experience in secretarial and general clerical work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, abilities, and skills listed above.
