Job Description

The Nurse plays an integral part in keeping young children safe and healthy while they are at Abbott House. As the Abbott House nurse you get to know the young people in our care on a personal level because you monitor and supervise all of their health care needs. This position also makes referrals to specialists when appropriate.

Qualifications

1. Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, meeting the requirements for practice in South Dakota

2. Ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and support staff.

3. Valid South Dakota Driver’s License.

4. Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences in the client population.

Responsibilities

1. Carefully assess the medical needs of every resident and respond with an appropriate course of action including supporting residents and their families in identification of medical priorities.
2. Promote healthy living to the residents and staff members.
3. Maintain thorough and appropriate medical documentation and college such records as are necessary for responsible care of residents.
4. Assure adequate and secure health care supplies are available at all times.
