Job Description

The Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates by analyzing proposals, requests and requirements. The Estimator will support the remanufacturing division of Takkion. This is a hands-on position accountable for developing and executing plans that will enable the Company to achieve its sales goal.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, specifications and related documents.
  • Work with remanufacturing managers to estimate labor and parts for projects.
  • Work with engineering department to estimate subcontractor labor and materials for machining costs when having to send a component out for repair, also includes the purchasing of material for inhouse repair and fabrication of parts.
  • Work with logistics coordinator to estimate shipping of components to and from wind sites and machining facilities.
  • Work with purchasing to order parts as needed for upcoming work.
  • Maintain the forecast/shop schedule with job completion timeframes and verify alignment with customer purchase orders and parts delivery.
  • Work with inventory specialist to verify consumption of parts on each job and update the sales order with additions of inventory and removals.
  • Prepares scopes of work and consumption logs for work to be completed.
  • Sets up job numbers in the ERP system once the job is awarded or when the component arrives at a Renew Facility.
  • Follow up on outstanding and lost bids.
  • Various inventory and purchasing functions.
  • Keeps fully informed of current developments in the wind industry, regulations and Company procedures as they apply to assigned work areas.
  • Assist with sales and business development activities.
  • Work with Sr. Management to develop growth strategy and plan.
  • Close interactions with all departments within Company – Accounting.
  • Must always be on hand and ready to perform additional related assigned tasks.
Job Requirements
Education

· To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide the following:

· HS diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred with Wind Industry / Construction Management / Industrial Engineering / Mathematics or related field experience.

· Three (3) – five (5) years of functional experience preferred.

· Strong mechanical background, analytical thinker with the ability to resolve complex issues, and manage tight deadlines and rapid change.

· Understanding of the quote to sales to scheduling process.

· Microsoft Dynamics or other ERP experience beneficial.

· Extensive knowledge in Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.

· Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, detail-oriented, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.

· Demonstrates openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.

· Self-starter with a drive for continuous improvement of the business operations.

Work Environment/ Physical Requirements

This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments. This position operates in an office environment.

Specific physical requirements include:

· Sitting for approximately 90% of the time while working on a personal computer.

· Occasionally lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds or less.
