Summary of Position

The Residential Liaison position provides assistance as requested to the mission. This is an non- exempt position.

Accountability

Reports to 1st-6th Residential Director.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supports and models the Catholic Mission and the Native American Culture that are the foundations of St. Joseph’s Indian School.
  • Empowers Residential Staff to be able to promote a reclaiming environment for the students through the Circle of Courage.

Responsibilities

  1. Serves as a representative and the primary contact of the St. Joseph’s Indian School 1st-8th Residential Program for all student activities and involvement in the local communities while maintaining a high level of compliance with SJIS policy and procedures.
  2. Serves in a Residential Coordinator capacity in cases of absence, overseeing management of staff and students.
  3. Keeps residential Administration informed of student opportunities within the community and facilitates communication regarding student involvement in community activities with Child Services Staff and the Development Liaison.
  4. Supervise students and Houseparents while participating in community events and activities.
  5. Maintains, coordinates, facilitates and provides oversight to quarterly Co-Pilot groups, the new student orientation program.
  6. Provides on-going opportunities for community and team building within the 1-12 grade homes and St. Joseph’s community.
  7. Coordinates and provides oversight to student travel to special events – including travel arrangements, student selection process, student/staff presentation preparation, and communication with staff. Provide 24 hour student supervision.
  8. Work with Development staff to lead presentation and discussion about St. Joseph’s Indian School at donor luncheons and other events.
  9. Coordinates and provides oversight to student involvement within the CMS Explorer’s group
  10. Assists Residential Administration with the coordination and supervision of break homes and home coverage as well as assisting with student transportation during breaks.
  11. Provides oversight to student job corps projects (i.e., finding opportunities, documenting hours, providing supervision, requesting reimbursement as necessary, etc.).
  12. Completes other responsibilities as required by the 1st-6th Residential Director, including weekend on-call responsibilities and sharing weekday rotations with the Residential Coordinators.

Qualifications

  • BA preferred
  • Residential experience required

Physical Demands

  • Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.
  • Some supervision may require standing for prolonged periods.

Expectations of Hours Worked

  • Flexible schedule
  • Evenings and weekend hours are required
  • Working a minimum of two weekends per month is required
  • At least 40 hours/week
