Job Description

The City of Sioux Falls Public Works and Water Reclamation Division is now accepting applications for a seasonal Laborer position for the summer of 2026. This is a non-benefitted seasonal role. The expected hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, excluding city holidays.

The Seasonal Laborer supports daily operations within Water Reclamation, assisting with groundskeeping, facility maintenance, and collection system activities. This position provides hands-on experience in wastewater operations and is ideal for individuals interested in public works or utility careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform groundskeeping at Water Reclamation facilities (mowing, trimming, weed control, debris removal)
  • Assist with routine maintenance at Water Reclamation, lift stations, and related infrastructure
  • Support the Collection Team with flowmeter installation, inspections, and repairs
  • Help with loading/unloading equipment, materials, and tools
  • Operate hand tools and basic power equipment safely and effectively
  • Clean and maintain equipment, vehicles, and work areas
  • Follow all safety protocols, including confined space awareness and PPE usage
  • Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or system irregularities to supervisors

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license, be able to work in extreme weather conditions and lift/carry 100 lbs.
